As you know from our recent social media posts, the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) in Atlanta took place a few weeks ago. If you missed any of our posts, we invite you to click on any of the social media icons in the footer of 2Sand.com to stay connected with us.

Our friend Ralph Bagnall from Woodcademy TV was our man at the show, walking the floor looking for the latest sanding tools and supplies to share with you.

A display of Indasa's new Cover Rolls at IWF 2022

The first booth along Ralph’s path was Indasa Abrasives where they displayed their new Cover Rolls. Part of their Technical Tapes line, cover rolls combine Indasa’s natural rubber adhesive masking tape with high density plastic sheets in widths from 350mm to 1800mm. Each of these rolls are 25 meters long, for masking off large areas. The sheets are high strength polyethylene and use the static cling of the plastic to lay securely on surfaces, protecting them from dirt and overspray.

Why we love it: We are especially excited about this product because it will save a lot of time when masking.

2Sand currently carries Indasa’s yellow professional masking tapes; let us know if you’d like us to carry this line as well.

Mirka's Galaxy line of abrasive sanding discs

Mirka USA was also at the show, and when Ralph visited the booth he saw their newly expanded Galaxy line of abrasives. The Galaxy line uses self-sharpening ceramic abrasive and features an anti-clog coating and film backing. These three features combine to provide maximum effectiveness and longevity. The Galaxy line comes in 5 and 6 inch diameter solid hook and loop grip as well as PSA versions. Galaxy discs are also available in Mirka’s grip multi hole pattern in 3, 5 and 6” sizes, and a 2.75" x 33.5' hook and loop roll.

Why we love it: An interesting side effect of the ceramic abrasive is that the brand and grit printing on the Galaxy line shows on the abrasive side of the pad, not the back. This certainly makes it easier to tell which grit is on your sander!

IWF was, as always, a huge event. There was a lot to see and Ralph has more to share. Watch for our next blog and see what other abrasives and sanding-related products Ralph found at the show.
